Data centre challenge
EFLA Consulting Engineers participated in the construction of a data centre expansion for Verne Global, the leading colocation operator in Iceland, where EFLA's scope was a turnkey package for the mechanical control systems.
The control systems consist of 56 individual Siemens 1510SP controllers with ET200SP I/O modules that share data between each other to control specified sections of the installation as one unit.
Included was the design of the control system, procurement of all material for the installation, hiring subcontractors for the electrical work and general management of the design and installation of the control system. EFLA also developed a PLC and SCADA library for the customer and programmed the Siemens 1510SP controllers, HMI and the WinCC SCADA system for the entire application.
Commissioning was performed following the data centre industry's best practices, including Level5 Integrated Systems Testing (IST). A thorough FAT in-house at EFLA's office with a fully simulated control system was followed by start-up of the system. SAT and IST tests were performed on-site after commissioning where all items of the control system met the customer requirements, the project was delivered on time and ready for operation.
