Executives from eight leading Icelandic firms, active within the development and utilisation of geothermal energy have signed a contract of cooperation. They aim for geothermal projects abroad.

Reykjavik Energy, one of the world's largest firms in the business, heads the cooperation and three of the largest engineering consultancy firms – EFLA, Mannvit and Verkís – are participants along with Iceland Drilling Company, a leader in its field, and the innovative architect firms: T.ark teiknistofa and Landslag. The geoscientific basis is found in the research and surveying firm Iceland GeoSurvey that joins the cooperation. This joint venture is based on a memorandum between Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) and Reykjavik Energy on joining forces in the development of geothermal energy opportunities globally.
